But what is alcohol-removed wine? Non-alcoholic wine, also known as dealcoholized wine, is wine from which the alcohol has been removed. The process is similar to making traditional wine, with the key difference being the removal of the alcohol at the end. Non-alcoholic wines are crafted to preserve the original taste, aroma, acidity, and mouthfeel of the wine.

Chardonnay

Chardonnay is one of the most famous and beloved white grape varieties. It captivates with its delicate aromas of white-fleshed fruits, such as apple and pear, paired with subtle floral notes. The Souvignier Gris is a grape variety that captivates with its delicate aromas of white-fleshed fruits, paired with subtle floral notes. This versatile grape produces harmonious wines, blending freshness and roundness. The Souvignier Gris is perfect for those seeking a balanced, refined, and modern wine, while maintaining beautiful freshness.

The story

Villa Amélie’s story began with a love affair… In 1890, Louis Pugibet fell in love with a winegrower’s daughter and received his first hectare of vines as part of her dowry.

Soon after, he purchased the neighboring land and named the estate “La Colombette.” In 1966, François Pugibet took over and became known for his exceptional Chardonnay, while also planting Grenache, Syrah, Sauvignon, and eventually Pinot Noir. Vincent then joined his father, continuing the tradition and driving innovation at Villa Amélie. They introduced a lighter range of wines, focusing on lower alcohol content, and in the 2000s, they created a line of “dealcoholized” wines made entirely from grapes and ingredients sourced from their own vineyards.

How is it made?

Villa Amélie’s process of making non-alcoholic wine is truly unique: the wine is pasteurized, with no artificial aromas, no additives, and only natural sugars and aromas from pure, fresh grape juice.

The wine is de-alcoholized in two steps. First, it passes through special pipes that separate the alcohol and water from the wine, while preserving the flavors and aromas almost intact.

Next, the extracted water and alcohol are heated in a vacuum distillation column, where the alcohol evaporates at a low temperature. The pure water is then reintroduced into the wine to complete the process, resulting in an alcohol-free wine that retains its authentic flavors.

While the de-alcoholization process has existed for many years, Villa Amélie is the only one offering a wine without artificial aromas today. Thanks to its exclusive method, Villa Amélie creates exceptional wines that perfectly combine authentic flavors with indulgence, delivering modern, refined wines that fully preserve the integrity of the aromas.
